Bringing a puppy home to Edgeworth
Edgeworth sits on the Ohio River and takes its name from the Edgeworth Seminary, a girls' school that moved here in 1836. The borough calls itself one of the most walkable communities in Western Pennsylvania, and those tree-lined sidewalks are ideal for a new puppy. Short, regular walks past people, bikes and other dogs are how a puppy learns that the world is nothing to worry about.
Dogs are welcome in all the borough parks as long as they are not running loose, and the parks are open from 6am to 6pm. Way Park on Meadow Lane has been a borough park since 1921. Morrow-Pontefract Park on Beaver Road covers ten acres on the Leetsdale line. For a longer outing, the borough also owns Walker Park, 81 acres on Little Sewickley Creek Road over the line in Leet Township.
Edgeworth is in the Quaker Valley School District, and Edgeworth Elementary is right in the borough.
